Reese Witherspoon hits the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Saturday (November 5) in Los Angeles. The 35-year-old actress and her husband Jim Toth stepped out to help honor the men of the hour: J. Edgar director Clint Eastwood and artist John Baldessari.

Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston have been close ever since Reese made her TV debut on “Friends” playing her sister back in 2000, but how close are the two leading ladies?

At Monday’s ELLE magazine’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute, Reese joked about her relationship with her former “Friends” co-star.

“[Jen has] sex appeal and complete lovability,” she said. “You just want to get your nails done with her and make out with her at the same time, at least I do, and that’s what we do sometimes on Saturday… first we get our nails done, so cute, and then we make out! It’s totally awesome! That’s because she’s my friend and not yours.”

All kidding aside, Reese told Access Hollywood earlier in the evening she was thrilled to help honor the actress.

“She’s great, she’s a good friend of mine,” Reese told Access. “She’s an awesome friend, as you can imagine.”

Before introducing Jen, Reese shared some heartwarming words about the 42-year-old star.

“On one hand, she’s this gorgeous breathtaking beauty, that men lose their thought process and speech patterns when they see her,” she said of the actress. “On the other hand, she is a woman who lets you in, who lets you see her flaws. She lets an audience laugh at her pain and humility and her humanity.”

After taking the stage to accept her honor, Jen – decked out in a sparkly, backless Kaufman Franco dress with a plunging neckline and Balenciaga shoes – encouraged the crowd to continue having the backs of their big screen sisters.

“We have to continue inspiring, supporting and loving an encouraging each other because for all of the young women who are following in our footsteps,” Jen said.

Other honorees at Monday’s ELLE event included Naomi Watts, Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Barbra Streisand Freida Pinto, and Evan Rachel Wood.

Reese Witherspoon is set to star alongside Jason Segel in Sex Tape, a new rom-com from Sony Pictures. According to Deadline.com, the pair are the studio’s first choice for the lead couple in the film, with Nick Stoller in talks to direct.

The film, which was acquired by the studio in a seven-figure deal in June, follows a married couple who take a night off from family life to spice things up by making a sex tape.

However, the following morning they notice the tape is missing and start a desperate search to find it.

Witherspoon is also slated to star in This Means War next year. The action comedy will also feature Tom Hardy, Chris Pine and Chelsea Handler.

Meanwhile, Bad Teacher star Segel is also due to appear in The Five-Year Engagement and This Is Forty next year.

It’d be his second hook up with Stoller in recent times, after the pair wrote the new Muppets move together.

“Every three minutes a woman is diagnosed, and that’s just unacceptable.”

This is how Reese Witherspoon speaks about breast cancer, a disease that more than 200,000 women in the U.S. were diagnosed with in 2007 alone. On Oct. 16, Witherspoon joined more than 3,000 men and women at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City, raising more than $8.4 million for breast cancer research and care — just one of many events held throughout October, also known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization and the Avon Foundation use Breast Cancer Awareness Month as a way to educate the public about the disease and how to be proactive when it comes to detection. Acting as a public face of the Avon Foundation, it is this consciousness-raising role that Reese Witherspoon finds herself in. In town for the walk and to announce the foundation’s latest Global Scholars Initiative, we had a chance to catch up with Witherspoon (who was just as sweet as she appears to be on-screen) and learn more about her involvement with breast cancer education.

Witherspoon has been the foundation’s global ambassador for the past five years, and she says the experience alone has been an education:

When I was first approached by Avon to represent their foundation … I wanted to know, what were the issues on women’s minds? … Breast cancer is first and foremost on the list of concerns for women. Domestic violence is also in the top three … It was really an education for me to see that these are the issues affecting women every day of their lives.
