This Means War to start filming

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Keep an eye out on Vancouver’s streets these next few weeks for Hollywood’s golden girl, Reese Witherspoon.

The blond starlet — of Walk the Line, Sweet Home Alabama and Legally Blonde fame — leads in This Means War, which begins filming in Hollywood North on Sept. 13. Star-spotters should also look out for producers Will Smith and James Lassiter, who produced The Karate Kid and Seven Pounds.

According to the Internet Movie Database, This Means War is a story about two lifelong best friends who wage an epic battle against one another after they both fall in love with the same woman. The heartthrobs starring alongside Witherspoon are Tom Hardy, the English actor who played Heathcliff in the 2009 film Wuthering Heights, and Chris Pine, who was James T. Kirk in 2009′s Star Trek.

At the helm is local production company TCF Vancouver Productions. This Means War will be filming locally until Dec. 1.

Reese’s Boyfriend Might Propose After Eight Months

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Is Reese Witherspoon’s boyfriend, agent Jim Toth, ready to propose? Toth has been spotted shopping at several high-end jewelry stores, and it’s suspected he’s looking for an engagement ring.
Nearly eight months after he started dating Witherspoon, it looks like Toth is ready to take things to the next level – In Touch Weekly even reported that the couple has gone to a few religious premarital counseling sessions.

“He knows her style,” a source told In Touch Weekly. “The ring will be classic and beautiful, just like Reese herself…It will happen in the next few weeks.”

This would be the second marriage for Witherspoon, 34, who divorced Ryan Phillippe, 35, in 2006 after seven years of marriage. She dated Jake Gyllenhaal until 2009, but she “never considered marrying Jake,” the source told In Touch Weekly. “She loved him, but wasn’t passionate about him. Jim is her ultimate guy.”

Despite the source’s urging to In Touch, the public seems more speculative of Toth; it seems people liked Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal better as a couple. Recently, a body language expert “decoded” Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal’s body language back when they were dating in photos and compared it to the body language Witherspoon and Toth use, coming to the conclusion that Witherspoon was happier with her ex.

Not so, say friends of the Legally Blonde star. “Reese can’t stop gushing about how special Jim makes her feel and how great it is to have him around her kids,” a friend told People magazine

Reese to appear in Paul Thomas Anderson film??

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Despite the fact that Universal passed on financing the picture, Paul Thomas Anderson is still working on his next film The Master, about a man who creates a ‘faith-based organization’ that mushrooms into an empire in the ’50s.

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeremy Renner are on board, and now Anderson is working to cast some of the major female roles. Among the possible actresses to appear are Reese Witherspoon, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone and Deborah Ann Woll.
The Playlist reported last week that PTA had put an offer out to Reese Witherspoon which, if accepted, would cast her as Mary-Sue, wife of the title character (Hoffman) who “acts as his caretaker and vigilant lieutenant.”
The other primary female role is Elizabeth, daughter of Mary-Sue and the master. Three actresses are being considered for that role, says Production Weekly (via The Playlist): Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone and Deborah Ann Woll.

All three are intriguing candidates, but Seyfried and Stone both have upcoming commitments. Seyfried has The Girl with the Red Riding Hood and Stone has The Help. Depending on when PTA wants to put The Master before cameras, those commitments could put them out of the running. Woll has a few films in the can (Mother’s Day, Highland Park, Little Murder) and may still have commitments to True Blood. That said, you know that if there’s a way for any of these three to make their schedule work with a role in a PTA film they’re going to make an effort to get things to work out.

Keep in mind that, while an offer has gone out to Witherspoon, no offer is yet out to any of the other three women for the role of Elizabeth. And, for that matter, there’s still the suggestion that The Master is a provisional title for the film.

Witherspoon and Toth NOT Hearing Wedding Bells

Monday, May 10th, 2010

New rumors have surfaced that Reese Witherspoon is “window shopping” and “eyeing diamonds” for a future ring that would turn new boyfriend Jim Toth in to her hubby.

Despite rumors, a source says Witherspoon and Toth are definitely happy together, and the relationship is headed in a good direction.

One source close to the actress says, Toth is a “really good guy” and those in her circle like him.

Another source adds they are “happily dating,” but talk of a ring right now is “not true.”

There you have it ladies and gents, rumors stay rumors.

Seth Rogen and Chris Pine to fight over Reese?

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Charlie’s Angels director McG is gearing up for the new action romantic comedy This Means War. The film is about two spy buddies who are fighting over the same girl. The combination of their feelings and skills culminates in them demolishing New York City. Bradley Cooper was originally set to star in the flick but dropped out. The official reason is it conflicts with the filming of The Hangover 2 but some are speculating that This Means War may be a bomb due to tons of rewrites.

The script was optioned back in 1998. Timothy Dowling (Role Models), Burr Steers (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) & Marcus Gautesen share screenwriting credit.

Recently there were rumors that Seth Rogen and Chris Pine were both vying for the lead. Many are now venturing to say that both Pine (in the lead) and Rogen may costar as the friends who are fighting over the girl, Lauren (played by Reese Witherspoon). An offer has been made to Pine but he hasn’t accepted it yet.

Seth Rogen and Reese Witherspoon have proven their chops with romantic comedies. Chris Pine recently showed that he could pull of an action role in Star Trek and McG is known for blending all three. Despite early hiccups this movie has the potential to be a hit.

Reese: Michelle Obama is Hotter than Elle Woods

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon believes US First Lady Michelle Obama is hot and more of a fashionista than Elle Woods.  Ms. Witherspoon spoke at 4th annual International Women of Courage awards and brought back Elle, her character from the film “Legally Blonde” for a helpful comparison with Mrs. Obama.

“It is truly an honor to be here today,” Witherspoon said. “As an actress, I’ve always sought out roles that portrayed women as strong and powerful — such as Elle Woods . . . who happened to be the biggest fashionista who ever came to Washington — until Michelle Obama.”

No marriage for Reese Witherspoon yet

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon’s boyfriend is desperate to marry her but the actress is not yet ready for a serious commitment.

The Legally Blonde star began dating Jim Toth only last month but the Hollywood agent is already planning to pop the question, reported InTouch Weekly.

“He is not looking to casually date, he’s looking to get more serious. He’s a nice guy, but he can be needy and is definitely looking to settle down. He lost his father about a year ago and that made him want to get married,” said an ex-girlfriend of Toth.

Witherspoon, who broke up with Jake Gyllenhaal in December because he was pushing for marriage, has no plans to tie the knot with Toth yet.

“Reese got married too young the first time, and she never wants to go through another divorce again. She wants to take things very slowly,” said a source.

Who is Reese Witherspoon’s new beau?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

For the past few years talent agent Jim Toth was known as a rising star at the Creative Artists Agency, where he works with such stars as Robert Downey Jr. and Tobey Maguire. And his friends know him as a fun-loving, down-to-earth guy. But now Toth, 39, is getting a whole new level of recognition as the tall, handsome date who’s been out to several dinners with Reese Witherspoon, including one earlier this week. While sources say the pair are not exclusive, there is also talk that the duo has been seeing an awful lot of each other.

Here is a closer look at Witherspoon’s new beau:

1. He worked his way up: Like many agents, before he was promoted, the ambitious Toth started in his agency’s mailroom, making deliveries and running errands. “I think I may have bought fruit for the entire agency on a daily basis,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2004. He now works with such clients as Forest Whitaker, Scarlett Johansson and Eliza Dushku.

2. He is a Lion at heart: Toth is a graduate of L.A.’s Loyola Marymount University (Go, Lions!), where he graduated with a major in political science. While there, he was a member of LMU’s 80-year-old service organization, the Crimson Circle, and pledged the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

3. He can hang ten: While he may have been born in western Pennsylvania, Toth has adapted to the California lifestyle and is an avid surfer.

 4. He’s a guy’s guy: His date may be famous for her chick flicks, but Toth prefers more manly entertainments, telling The Hollywood Reporter that his favorite all-time movie is “The Godfather, Part II,” and TV show is “Miami Vice.”

5. He’s a man about town: Known as an active dater, Toth is often seen out and about with his famous friends and clients. “He loves living the ‘Entourage’ life,” says a friend.
