The elderly driver who struck Reese Witherspoon on Wednesday will not face charges.
According to Us Magazine, it was Witherspoon’s decision to not press charges, even though the driver, an 84 year-old woman, was caught not yielding to a pedestrian. A representative told the magazine that she was “…not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home.” Witherspoon’s only injury was a cut to her forehead. She considers the incident an accident and sees no point in pressing the charges, since usually the driver “…would receive a fine and a point on her driving license as it is considered a moving violation,” added the representative.
E! News reports that Santa Monica Police Department ordered the woman to take a full driver’s reevaluation exam within 30 days. The incident is not expected to put a hold on Witherspoon’s plans. She is set to star with Matthew McConaughey in Mud and This Means War with Tom Hardy.
